What is the difference between cylindrical, square and soft pack lithium batteries?-CSIP

At present, there are three main types of lithium battery packages: cylindrical, square and soft pack, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Different packaging structures mean different characteristics, but there is little difference between them in terms of core battery materials.

 

I. Cylindrical

 

 

1. Definition:

 

Cylindrical lithium battery early shell material is mainly steel shell more, at this stage, the aluminum shell is the main. The earliest cylindrical lithium battery was invented in 1992 by Japan's SONY 18650 lithium battery, 18650 cylindrical lithium battery has a long history, so the popularity of the market, cylindrical lithium battery using a mature winding process, a high degree of automation, stable product quality and relatively low cost.

3, Disadvantages:

(2) The probability of alienation of cylindrical lithium battery cell characteristics is increased

(3) The space for increasing energy density has long been very small

 

2. Square

 

 

1,Definition:

 

Square lithium batteries usually use aluminum or steel-cased square batteries, the popularity of square batteries in the country is very high, domestic power battery manufacturers mostly use the battery energy density of the higher aluminum-cased square batteries, square batteries have the use of stacked and winding two different processes.

 

2, Advantages:

(2) High energy efficiency of the system

(3) Relatively light weight, high energy density

(4) Simple structure, relatively easy to expand the capacity

(5) High capacity of single unit

(6) Relatively good stability

 

3.Disadvantages:

 

(1) Too many models, the process is difficult to unify

(2) The level of production automation is not high, and the variability of the monomer is large

 

3,Soft package

 

 

1、Definition

 

Soft pack battery in the structure of the aluminum-plastic film packaging

 

2, Advantages:

 

(1) Better safety performance, only smoke or fire, no explosion will occur.

(2) Relatively light weight

(3) Small internal resistance

(4) Good circulation performance

(5) design is more flexible, shape variable arbitrary shape

 

3,Disadvantages:

 

(1) Poor consistency

(2) Higher cost

(3) Easily leaky

(4) High complexity of PACK process
